Wacky scholarships for wacky factors

Whilst it’s pretty much common knowledge that superior athletes or top academics can apply for scholarships to help fund their further education, many people don’t realize that there are also scholarships available for those with more unusual attributes? You don’t need to be a Grade A student or superb athlete to be able to find scholarships to help pay for your college or university fees.

There really are some pretty wacky scholarships available, as more and more companies, organizations and charities recognize the potential for increasing their profile among the young people of America. Some of them are even based on personal appearance or physical attributes (tall people, overweight people, people with red hair, people who have a twin or, even better, triplets, vegetarians, poets, people who eat enormous amounts of jelly!) you won’t know until you try to find out and you might just be surprised to find yourself eligible.

Ironically, many of these weird scholarships are never claimed, mostly because students don’t even know that they exist. If you are struggling to find the funds to pay for your further education you really ought to spend a little time and effort finding out what’s available.

Gender equality has improved a lot over the last century, and nowhere is this more easily recognizable than in the field of education. There are more and more Scholarships for Women which have helped women to achieve their equality (or even superiority) in many different fields.Even in historically male dominated professions such as science, engineering and math, there are now a surprising amount of women who have achieved prominent positions in their careers, thanks to a large extent to these scholarships.

There is a large and important African American community in America, but sadly these numbers are still not reflected in the number of African American students who go on to achieve a university education, often due to lack of funds. There are now an increasing amount of African American Scholarships which are available and are helping to open up more opportunities for these people.

At present, there is a shortfall of qualified teachers across America, but a growing number of Teaching Scholarships are helping to address this problem. With Teaching Scholarships being offered at local and national level it is hoping that more of the top talent in the country will be able to train for this worthwhile career.
