Red Cross Community Impact Hero

Senator Dick Durbin nominated Fr. Bruce Wellems as the 2008 Red Cross Community Impact Hero. At the 2008 Heroes Breakfast, the Greater Chicago Red Cross honored the everyday heroes in our community–regular people whose actions change lives. Reverend Bruce Wellems of Chicago Wellems dedicates his life to providing safe havens and better education to youth who are in danger because of gangs. In 2007, he raised enough money to provide 55 college scholarships.
