LACESMA Music Scholarship Competition 2008
Ten LAUSD elementary students who participate in Children’s Music Workshop orchestra programs were awarded scholarships at the 2008 LACESMA Music Scholarship competition at LA Valley College on Saturday, March 1, 2008. The annual event is open all students in any of lausd’s more than 400 elementary schools. It is sponsored the the Los Angeles City Elementary School Music Association. To audition for the merit based scholarships, students must be recommended by their school music teacher. The auditions are intended to encourage those students who have demonstrated above average musical talent, interest and commitment, by providing a $250 scholarship to be used towards private music lessons. LACESMA serves as a unique professional organization for the elementary music teachers of LAUSD. The organization is involved in teacher inservice, music advocacy and the annual scholarship program.
