How early in my education can I earn an ‘in-college’ scholarship in the Air Force ROTC?

I have been looking forward to join the AFROTC program for a long time, but unfortunately I did not receive the scholarship (currently a HS senior). With finances as an issue, how long can it take to earn an in-college scholarship if I earn good grades and exceed in the program?

After your freshmen year would be the first chance , you could get a 3 year scholarship.

But most likely, it would be after your 2nd year.

I found some info about getting this scholarship online in this scholarship database – careers.scienceontheweb.net

At the very earliest, after your first semester. These are only given out to a limited number of cadets though, and only the very best receive them(about 2-3 per semester from my detachment). You must have a certain gpa depending on the scholarship, and must be enrolled in a degree awarding university(4 year).
