High School classes that can lead to a college scholarship?

What classes can a high school student take in school that can lead to a college scholarship. I live in Texas and have a male son in high school. I have spoken to the school counselor which I found to be of no help at all. She provided me with a website that tells how to go about getting scholarships through writing essays. Examples: male cheerleading, band-what type of instruments gets scholarships. If there is anything that I have left out please feel free to include it in your response.
