Animation Head & Hair Turn

By admin On March 31, 2010 25 Comments

The Head& Hair Turn that I’m known for. Done in either 1996 or 1997 at the U-ARTS Philadelphia on Scholarship. ????******************** The MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION I GET IS: “How do you draw your hair?” Well, it’s Really Easy, but it’s a long story about how I figured it all out. Anyways, THIS IS THE ANIMATION THAT I MADE THAT’S RESPONSIBLE FOR MY FIGURING OUT HAIR!!!!!!! ******** The Story: Much of my art is still done using trick and techniques that I was taught by Lowl Boston at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, while I went there, on Scholarship, durring my junior & Senior years in Highschool. YES! I went to college while I was still in Highschool, on the weekend! The 1st thing that any animation student learned is “The Bouncing Ball”. In this basic of all lessons you learn the principles of “Squash & Stretch”. This is so important in animation. And, by doing something as simple as animating a bouncing ball you just “get it”: key frame, In-betweens, blur lines, squash & stretch, and timing. Lowl Boston kept giving me scholarships, so I kept returning season after season as the scholarships got bigger and more generous. Since I’d done all the typical lessons, and I just LOVED animation, I deside to try some other things. I was a big fan of Glen Kean’s “Pocahontas”, and I had coppied several of his sketches from his pin-up-board from an interview for “Pocahontas” and coppied them. Yet, I didn’t “get it yet”. I was a big fan of Blümchen, and I had a

From KETC, LIVING ST. LOUIS Producer Jim Kirchherr visits with the Show-Me Drummers. The Show-Me Drummers are a group of middle school students lead by Terry Artis. The members spend a lot of time learning to play percussion instruments of all types and to march as part of the group. Through frequent practice and performances, the students learn not only about drumming, but also about discipline and other life skills. The program is highly successful and has a great impact on the lives of its participants. Many of the members enter college with full music scholarships.

An Aero-TV Overview: Women In Aviation 2008 Conference

The 19th Annual International Women in Aviation (WAI) Conference is now history but statistics showed it to be the organization’s biggest Conference ever, and both ANN and Aero-TV were there to cover it all. “By all accounts, this has been one heck of a successful Conference,” said WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian. We couldn’t agree more. Attendance reached a new high with 3320 women and men registered. More than 250 of the Conference-goers were from the military, also a new record. The Exhibit Hall was the biggest ever with 151 separate companies and organizations on display, representing all aspects of the aviation community. $710855 in scholarships was distributed to WAI members at every stage of life from university students to mature members seeking a mid-life career change to aviation. The WAI silent auction raised $28000 for wai’s Endowment Fund, also a new record, bringing the total in the Endowment Fund to $563000. The money in the Endowment Fund is used for scholarships. At the Conference, WAI and the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) announced a partnership for EAA airventure 2008 called womenventure, a series of seminars, speakers and networking events all week long at airventure 2008, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to highlight both women’s historical and contemporary role in aviation. womenventure culminates on Friday, August 1, with wai’s Celebrity Breakfast at the Nature Center on-site, followed by the gathering of the largest number of women pilots in
